On October 28th we have participated in workshop “How to obtain FP7 funds for research in the field of medicine and health?”. Workshop was organized by the the Medical University in Łódź, together with the National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EU in cooperation with Regional Contact Point at the University of Łódź. The event was organized under the auspices of Ewa Kopacz, Minister of Health, prof. Jerzy Buzek, the President of the European Parliament and prof. Paweł Górski, the President of the Medical University of Łódź.
The conference started with the address by prof. Dariusz Nowak, the President for the University’s Development. Dr hab. n. med. Roman Danielewicz, Director of Science and Higher Education Department at the Ministry of Health has been encouraging to apply for European funds. Prof. Jerzy Buzek has given a lecture encouraging Polish researchers to use the opportunities given by FP7, a program in the creation of which he participated, hoping for a dynamic development of Polish science. Lectures were also presented by prof. Anna Woźniacka, Director of the Ph.D. Studies and dr hab. Przemysław Kardas, Head of the Family Medicine Department, main organizer of the conference and a head of the first and only FP7 project in the field of health, coordinated by the Polish university. Audience consisted mainly of members of the Ph.D. Studies of the Medical University.

Following lectures informed the audience on the ways of finding information, training and advice regarding applying for FP7 grants, how to prepare and submit a proposal and how to plan a budget. This information was given by Anna Pytko, representant of the Regional Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EU at the University of Łódź, dr Ewa Szkiłądź, expert within the domain of medicine at the National Contact Point, and by representants of the consulting companies with long-time experience in obtaining medical grants, Ms. Karolina Kośmińska from TECHIN and Mr. Alberto Sciuto from INNOVA. The University staff has also shared their knowledge: mgr Aneta Andrzejczak, Research Programs Department, and doc. Przemysław Kardas, Coordinator of the international research project ABC.
